Happy Gandhi Jayanti

Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him.

Will he gain anything by it?

Will it restore him to a control over his own life and destiny?

In other words, will it lead to Swaraj for the hungry and spiritually starving millions?

Mahatma Gandhi

I know the path.

It is straight and narrow. It is like the edge of a sword. I rejoice to walk on it. I weep when I slip.

God's word is: 'He who strives never perishes.' I have implicit faith in that promise.

Though, therefore, from my weakness I fail a thousand times, I will not lose faith, but hope that I shall see the Light when the flesh has been brought under perfect subjection, as some day it must.

Actor Atul Kulkarni teamed up with four cousins to build a forest on 24 acres of barren land in Kusawade near Satara.

Six years ago, when the actor and his cousins bought the land nestled in the Western Ghats, it was an impoverished piece of grazed grassland with its soil eroded. "When I told my family that we were trying to build a forest, for some reason, they all imagined a tiger!

But this is a lifetime project, even for trees to grow over our heads, it will take decades and maybe my great-grandchildren might be able to spot a rabbit here. "

The procurement chief of our major customer was coming. His last two visits made us work for months.

The affable procurement chief started the meeting by complementing us on our achievements in delivery & cost improvements.

The whole room broke into a spontaneous applause. After all this time he appreciated our work & did not exhort for usual price cuts.

As the sound of claps died down, came the bombshell that everyone was dreary of.

The term ‘commonwealth’ originally meant public welfare, things that are for the greater good of society.

  • Do the Commonwealth Games pass this commonwealth test?

  • Is this Rs 28,000-crore drain on public funds for the greater common good?

Despite the wonderful economic strides of the past two decades, the reality is that India is a poor country.

How can we forget that for Rs 28,000 crore we could have established primary schools and health centres in tens of thousands of villages?
